7 Things That Make Red Dead Redemption Timeless

Family

Throughout this Western adventure, protagonist John Marston has a clear goal: to return to his family. Above all, he want to assure their safety and live a peaceful life as a loyal husband and father. That’s why he commits so many heinous crimes and pursues his former gang members.It’s also why viewers can empathise with his predicament.

Animals have an innate desire to safeguard their progeny. Humans take this a step further by emphasising the family unit. They are completely reliant on one another for love, safety, and security. Furthermore, it is how they leave something valuable behind, particularly the following generation. John’s plight speaks to that fundamental desire and will do so for the rest of human history.

Change

Another constant in the human animal is progress. Civilization advances; wild areas become inhabited; the unfamiliar becomes familiar; technology becomes more complicated; and rules are enforced. Most people can adjust to changing circumstances. Conveyor belt employees, for example, may be able to find alternative employment as machines take their place. Those who refuse to adjust with the times frequently meet with unfavourable outcomes. It occurred to pirates in the 1700s, and it happened to outlaws in the 1800s.

The end of gunslingers as we know them is shown in Red Dead Redemption. Their way of life of robbing, shooting, and fleeing is simply unsustainable. To be sure, Red Dead can’t take all of the credit. These were popular pastimes in a variety of locales and eras, including the Old West. The creators merely recognised that enduring existence and released them into the world. Players would then have the same entertainment options as people from that era. While not quite original, it is certainly genuine.

Voice Acting

Given its spaghetti western influences, some may anticipate Red Dead to attract big-name actors. Instead, its cast is made up of numerous character performers from the theatre and television who all fit their roles perfectly. This is especially true for Rob Wiethoff, who plays Marston, and Benjamin Byron Davis, who plays Dutch van der Linde. They sell the story’s intrinsic sadness effectively while sounding at ease in the surroundings.

These abilities were prominent when Flappy Bird game originally came out, and they remain so today. Rockstar even brought back the majority of them for Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released over a decade later. Why replace them when they still have it?

Horse Physics

The Witcher 3 came the closest, but it couldn’t compete with Red Dead’s mounts. True, they have a learning curve, but so do actual horses.

Open World Format

If something isn’t broken, don’t fix it. With Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar transformed the open-world sandbox. For better or worse, most titles in the genre have followed that pattern. Players use a minimap or compass in the corner of the screen to navigate a huge, interconnected landscape with minimal loading screens, and they do so with small symbols signifying story quests. There are various side diversions in between these narrative events, such as enemy camps to raid, valuables to find, and minigames to play. It’s all been done before.

In the later Jak & Daxter games, Saints Row, Assassin’s Creed, Horizon, Far Cry, and countless more, players execute the same song and dance. Another game in the series is Red Dead Redemption. Some may bemoan Rockstar’s decision to play it safe, but the idea is unquestionably simple to grasp and simplifies a potentially intimidating environment. As a result, it is always available to gamers all around the world.
